Whitehall/Ayersley CNIP First Public Meeting

The first public meeting was conducted by the City of Charlotte and the consultant team for the Whitehall/Ayresley CNIP area on March 10th. The consultants included representatives of Mulkey Engineers & Consultants (Lead), ColeJenest & Stone and Brand Equity Marketing.

City of Charlotte’s Alberto Gonzalez provided an introduction and explanation of the Community Improvement Plan and Comprehensive Neighborhood Improvement Project followed by a brief presentation from Mike Dozzi (Mulkey Engineers) about the project area and the types of the proposed/anticipated work within the project area.  Attendees then broke into smaller groups for the four focus areas:  Berewick, Sandy Porter/Steele Creek/Brown-Grier neighborhoods, Westinghouse, and Whitehall/Ayrsley.  Individuals were asked to provide their input regarding various anticipated improvements as part of the project including intersection(s), streetscape/roadway, pedestrian circulation/sidewalks, community identity (public art or other identifying markers), greenways/trails, parks/open space, and any other opportunity that residents felt were needed.

There will be a follow-up community meeting on April 23, as well as on-going discussions with residents/focus groups prior to the meeting on April 23. Check out more photos of the meeting here.
