Scott Hazard Appointed to City of Raleigh Public Art Design Board

The City of Raleigh Arts Commission and the Public Art and Design Board have elected new leadership and welcomed new members. Scott Hazard, Raleigh Office Manager, accepted the nomination to serve on the City of Raleigh Public Art and Design Board. His professional experience, coupled with his education background in fine arts and being a practicing visual artist will help shape the future of Raleigh's ever-expanding public art program.

The City of Raleigh Arts Commission, established in 1977, serves as the leading force to champion the arts with Raleigh citizens and their representatives. The commission proudly holds the distinction of being the first municipal arts commission created in North Carolina. Serving as the official advisory body and advocate for the arts to the City Council, the commission is dedicated to the ongoing goal of connecting people to the arts and building a vital and ever-expanding creative community for Capital City residents and visitors.

The mission of the Public Art and Design Board is to promote and facilitate the inclusion of art into Raleigh's public realm by means of an established process that creates connection between artists, partners and communities for the purpose of enhancing the City's vitality. Meetings take place on the last Tuesday of each month and are open to the public.

The Office of Raleigh Arts supports and promotes the arts in Raleigh by administering the programs of the City of Raleigh Arts Commission and the City’s Public Art and Design Board and supporting the Pullen and Sertoma Arts Centers. The Office of Raleigh Arts is part of the City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department.
