Groundbreaking for Carolina Square

The groundbreaking for Carolina Square was held on October 23, 2015 for the $123 million Carolina Square commercial and residential building project that will be transformative for Chapel Hill’s Franklin Street. In attendance were President and CEO David Ravin sharing the stage with Cousins Properties as well as the UNC Chancellor, Board of Trustees Chair and the Mayor of Chapel Hill.

The project is on the site of the former University Square buildings, which have been demolished to make way for the three-building complex that will have 159,000 square feet of office space, 43,000 square feet of retail space and 246 market-rate apartments.

The project is slated to be finished by August 2017.
