West Expansion

The Gaston Memorial Hospital west expansion project in Gastonia, North Carolina is a three-level parking deck with a Women's Center as the fourth level of the parking structure.  A connector link component ties the new addition with the existing hospital. ColeJenest & Stone provided the civil engineering and landscape architectural services for this multi-facetted project. 

Our close coordination with the City of Gastonia, the Architects and various consultants was critical for the success of this project.

A new main entrance drive with two vehicular drop-off plazas orients visitors to the hospital entry points.  The bulk of the existing visitor parking was displaced for the new addition; therefore, several surface parking lot expansions were necessary for employees and visitors during construction. 

The West Expansion project provides a new 'front door' to the hospital accentuated by water features, terraced planting walls, seating plazas and several interior courtyard gardens within the Women's Center.  Entire cost of the project was $70,000,000.
