Charlotte Center City 2010 Vision Plan
Charlotte, North Carolina
Provided land planning, urban design, and land architectural
consulting services for the development of a 10-year Center
City Vision Plan for the City of Charlotte. Charlotte’s
residents, government staff, developers, landowners, public
officials and national planning experts, together created
a plan to guide the Center City’s future development:
on a global scale, as an economic center, and as a series
of neighborhoods for people to live, work, learn, and visit.
The process involved extensive community involvement and
intensive team planning sessions on various levels, to discover
the prime criteria for a livable and memorable Center City.
The Vision Plan developed four primary target areas:
-
Land Use, Growth & City Form
-
Open Space, Parks & Recreation
-
Transportation, Streets & Parking
-
Catalyst & Redevelopment Areas
Transportation and parking were fundamental considerations
in the primary focus areas. ColeJenest & Stone played
a significant role in the recommendations for City parks,
recreational facilities and greenway improvements.
